I realized a couple things this weekend: people are scum, and I like thin cut beef jerky.
G10 was stolen while we were at the Leavenworth drive, so I’m camera less. I think I’m going to buy another one, I really had no complaints with it other than its size/weight, but its ability to produce a decent picture with zero operator skill is definitely a plus. Any ideas on a worthy replacement?
I actually thought about searching the Craigslist lost & found section…………………………..”thought about”
My buddy Ryan stopped by Status today to help me out of a jam with some last minute brackets. Ryan’s car is fresh from paint sporting all of the CSL goods and a flush set of Neon Green Work Rezax’s……….Top Form Ryan, Internet applause!!!!
And a little preview of things to come. Color check….CHECK.
Friday exciting exciting, went to the local drifts in Monroe. The Monroe Speedway (hah!!) is walking distance from the Status campus so why not, plus this was the first event Nikolay brought his 240 to, think when they brake champagne on new boats. Anyway it was a fun event, aside from crashing into the tire wall after going over the top of the bank………….Yeah, all in good fun.
Boss Club X Pastel Party, Roland and Gleb went balls out all day……Good show gentlemen
The man Himself, after a 2+ year hiatus, you would think Nikolay was secretly practicing every day. Might be biased, but the man put on a good show.. ..”Top Gun Drifter”
Bro Truck……………2-L-2-L-2-Q
“You got a funny Geneva watch, with the Ferrari kit, Take that monkey sh*t off, you embarrassing us.”
This was the original idea for the Integra, Aston Martin British Racing Green (Not that new mettalic stuff they use now) CPR’s, and some other stuff. A super simple, clean street car. We ended up painting the car BRG inside and out, only to realize 6 months later when the car saw it’s first ray of sunlight that the color was soooo two thousand and late…….back to the drawing board.
We finished* the car in April just in time for a feature article in the March 2007 HCI. We kept the original concept of the car but changed a few things, and finally found a color I was sold on. there were alot of things with the car that I wasn’t super happy about, or as we call them automotive insecurities. I didn’t want to sell the car and have regets on what I should have done, or things I would have done differently. So two weeks after the HCI shoot we tore the car down to a bare shell and started over.
Once the car was a bare shell we mounted it up on the spit and took it to the good people at Alternative Blasters Corp. in Marysville WA for some media blasting.
We got the car back from media blasting in bare metal.
We did some spot welding on the chassis. The goal of this car was to take the idea of a street car as far as you could before sacrificing the cars streetability. I want to drive this car to the beach……that’s about it.
After the metal work was completed the car was sent to Powder Coating Inc. where the entire underside, wheel wells, and engine bay were powder coated. We used a new company that offers PC in specific color codes. The color ended up matching pretty decent. Unfortunately this is the only picture I have of the car in it’s powder coated state.
And this is pretty much where were at now, with about two months to finish the car……crunch time.
This weekend was a big weekend for VW and team APR with a first place finish at this weekends Koni challenge race at Watkins Glen. This is the first professional U.S. road racing victory for VW in 25 years!
This months Honda-Tuning features a Civic built by a good buddy of mine, Steven Kwan. The car is pretty awesome and features some glorious PWP from my man Jeff Miller. The issue hits news stands early next week, make sure to get out and buy an issue. Oh yeah Nick shot this one too, you already know……add another cover for the boy wonder! Oh yeah pt. 2 the Blacura made a cameo in Steve’s feature too, AOK Hombre!!!!
Some never before seen shiz:
Thank you, without this group of people this feature would have never came together:
Jeff Miller
Nick Parker
Aaron Bonk
Joey Lee
Matt Rodriguez
Today I received the 1/4 scale model of our latest iteration of the Ring/Laguna seat. We sent our Solid works model out to a company in Oregon that specializes in 3D modeling. One week later we have this exact 1/4 scale model of our latest seat. I don’t really know why R&D had this made, but I’m on the hunt for an animal small enough to fit in this thing………think Stuart Little.
This weekend we drove out to Montana to handle some family buisness. This was my first trip to the “Big Sky Country”, but I’ve always wanted to go because Josh would rant and rave about how relaxing and mellow it was, He wasn’t lying. We stayed in Twin Bridges, a city that has a population of 400, one gas station, one store, three bars, & no stop lights.
This months Euro Tuner features Status coustomer Eric Shih’s BMW M3 as a cover feature. You might remember Shih’s car in blue with the always winning TWC competition x Carrozzeria designs group. The rebuild is pretty wild, but I don’t want to give anything away so make sure you show your support and pick up an issue.
