Nick stopped by the new shop today to finish up the shoot on Mel’s car for an upcoming issue of Honda-Tuning. Being an automotive photog in the PNW is kind of a backwards profession, as it rains here eight months out of the year. So….today’s shoot was an indoor shoot. I’ll post up some teasers later this week.
I told you last time: “Please don’t judge my dear friend for the absolute horrendous stickers that now adorn his beautiful pistachio paint job, Niko knows if his car ever ends up in the shop again I will be razoring that $6.99 cookie cutter vinyl, and bringing it back to it’s full flesh colored glory.”
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!!
Niko’s car is back….and sticker-less, he’s getting himself a new set of metal fenders to replace the frp vented ones that were on there before. The cars also getting a set of R33 bumper ducts, a vented hood, and hopefully some mirrors.
I’m sure you heard the news that Block will be running a focus next year in WRC, w/ teammate Chris Atkinson, I am very excited to see this happen, mostly to see the Focus no longer painted in that atrocious Abu Dhabi paint scheme. I read this on one of the motor sport forums I read, and agree completely.
We, myself included whinge and complain about WRCars being to like F1 cars in that they seem to run on rails. The old days of maintaining momentum regardless of what angle the car was on are gone.
Obviously that reduces the visual appeal to the spectators.
Although Block may or may not be a championship contender he will certainly be good to watch as thats how he drives - with flare and aggression. In that way he shares similarities with McRae and Vatanen.
You never know, he may turn out to be quicker than we all expect.
Block addresses these rumors……….by not really addressing them at all:
Block and Atko on the same team is going to be awesome EXPENSIVE!!!!
It’s been a while, and I kind of went off the grid again…BUT!!! some exciting things are in the works that I will hopefully be able to speak openly about in the next couple of weeks. Other than that I got all moved into my new live/workplace. The place was a dump before used for storing jets so the concrete was all pitted out from the AV gas. so we buffed that shit out, threw on some clear with a no slip finish, and wala!
And It’s finished……..kind of (need to: paint walls, add moldings, build shower, entertainment system, add lift, orange tabi cat, fridge, metal slug arcade, etc) here’s the finished work:
Thank you Bill, Jeffrey Sparkle*, and Ryan for taking me from ashy to classy
Eddie from Dynamic Autosport showed me some pics of their 350z drift car recently reincarnated by HPI as a RC car. Pretty sweet stuff, Even has my logo WOOT!!!
Here’s the real thing. Nice work Rodney!
I’ll update this post when they’re available to the public.
Fortune sent me these teasers of my buddy Mel’s EP civic. These shots were taken for Mel’s up coming feature on Urban Racer, which will come out shortly after Mel’s Honda Tuning issue drops.
I was scrolling thru some old pictures and ran across some good memories……
Lady Killer w/ tools!
In other news, The Integra build is being featured on my buddy Joey Lee’s Honda blog The Chronicles. The name of the site is StickyDiljoe.com which kind of sounds like……..Anyway, Have a good weekend I’m going to drink some wine, and eat beef jerky.
I added Joey’s blog to my blog roll CHECK IT OUT!!!!!
Also!! If you like cars watch this video………….IT’S AMAZING
A couple weeks ago my buddies Gene and Fortune were in town for a car show/wedding. Warren wanted to shoot a couple of local H-cars for UrbanRacer and we happened to have Mel’s Ep3 in the shop getting freshened up, as well as Steve’s glorious EK ready and willing. Gene ended up taking some candid shots of the shop and Warren shooting the cars. I know you didn’t think I took these photos………….
I’ll update the blog when Fortune’s features release on UrbanRacer. I also added Fortune’s “new” Blog to my blog roll, visit the site. We share the same love for side profile shots!!!
A while back I sent a set of seats to Steve Millen for a R35 GTR project they would be using to compete in the Targa Newfoundland rally. I would have much rather talked to Steve about IMSA Audi 90’s (the greatest car to ever grace a race track) but the topic of conversation was the GTR……my least favorite sports car this year. Anyway the car is finished and on its way to Canada, I’m excited to see how the car holds up under tarmac rally conditions.
I watched a documentary on the Newfoundland rally last year and it looked pretty awesome, 911’s flipping, people crashing into light poles, houses, the Atlantic ocean…….pretty much awesome.
Check out the build blog and the new developments Stillen has coming out for the R35:
*Also* I’m going to be working with Steve to develop a proper GTR specific seat adapter that will place the driver substantially lower that our current GTR adapter. The kit will consist of a thinner slider. and shorter bracket legs lowering the seat 1.5″ - 2″ from the factory seat.
Nikolay, and the guys at Running Projects just finished his demo video. It has Pat Bennetar so you know it’s operating at an 11, it also has an on ramp scene.
DISCLAIMER: Please don’t judge my dear friend for the absolute horrendous stickers that now adorn his beautiful pistachio paint job, Niko knows if his car ever ends up in the shop again I will be razoring that $6.99 cookie cutter vinyl, and bringing it back to it’s full flesh colored glory.
